I just can't resist these old thread color sample cards when I come across them--yet another means of delivering the pure joy of color, and the more colors the better, 120 of them here. Plus the satisfying geometry of all those tightly pulled lines of threads, composing a grid. Pretty rose colored cloth over board cover with embossed gold lettering, too, reading simply "Premier Art Embroidery Silk." Late 19th c./very early 20th c. I believe. 

Closed: 8 1/2" x 4 5/8". Open: 9 3/8" across. Very good antique condition, clean and crisp with no threads lost.
