How Signal Boosters Work

1. Outside antenna receive the existing outside cell signal
2. Outside antenna transmits received signal to repeater by coaxial cable, repeater amplifies and transmit it to inside antenna
3. Inside antenna broadcasts signal throughout the room

What Signal Booster Does Not Do 

A cell phone signal booster requires an existing outside cell signal to boost. It cannot create it's own cellular signal, so if there is not an existing outside cell signal available, then a cell phone signal booster will not work. 

Your outside signal strength will determine the overall strength of the boosted indoor signal. Those with weak outside signal can expect less overall coverage than those with strong outside signal with the same signal booster.
